Palomino Set

Palomino Set

The making of the Palomino set.

The Palomino Set was by far the best thing I’ve made in a long while. Even though it looks like a simple design, it definitely wasn’t easy. As a beginner silversmith, it can be hard to come up with original ideas, so I sometimes struggle to create pieces that feel new and truly mine. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I invented this design.. but I’m sure there are similar ones out there, seeing this little pile of stones come to life felt like a real success.

Some of my favorite parts of this set are the natural patterns in the stones and the handmade bail. The bail didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned, but honestly, it turned out even better! As Bob Ross would say " Happy little accidents". I have always said that Palomino Variscite was the stone I really wanted to focus on while silversmithing. I fell in love with the stone when I got a piece custom made by Snake Oil Turquoise and knew that if I ever got the chance to create jewelry it was my go to stone! Since I had the piece made, I noticed the stone has become more popular. Making the stone harder to find thats quality, in the US. So finding this quality set just made my day.

Getting stones online is always a gamble, not knowing if there is a crack, bad backing, or anything as such. But Red Mountain Outpost has done a fantastic job with being transparent about their stones.. and I've come to realize  that they have nothing but high quality stones unless stated otherwise!

I keep telling myself if this set doesn't sell it's going to stay in my collection! I adore this cute petite set but I told myself if I start making jewelry I can't keep everything I love. This might be the set that I regret selling, but we'll see!

Creating the Palomino Set reminded me why I fell in love with silversmithing in the first place — the blend of patience, creativity, and those “happy little accidents” that make each piece truly mine. Whether it sells or stays with me, this set marks a turning point in my journey, and I can’t wait to see where the next design takes me.
